The MMA Mad Podcast

It's the final episode of the year and we're going out with a bang. The highly anticipated Coast To Coast and Outside The Bubble crossover has arrived.

Nick is joined by Kevin Quinn and Monica Plucker for a fun conversation about all things MMA and beyond. They get everything from NFL Playoffs and The Bachelor to the upcoming title fights at UFC 207.

Plus, they take some questions from fans and friends of the show, including a special surprise call-in question from one the biggest fighters of 2016.

Well it's official, Christmas is upon us!! And who better to spend it with than Nick Rizner & The Martins.

First, David St. Martin returns to the show to talk UFC 207 and Star Wars Rouge One. Forever operating at the most entertaining level of grumpiness, DSM is one of the best guests we have on this show. This week was no exception.

Next, Tony Martin catches up with us ahead of his January 15th fight at UFC Phoenix. We also recap UFC Sacramento and talk about the potential risks of promoting popular yet inexperienced fighters.

Finally, a little After Show Dallas Cowboys talk and a special holiday message from Outside The Bubble's Monica.

Welcomed a couple of good friends to help me break down UFC Sacramento and UFC 207. Good times with good people.

First, Nick Newell joins the show to talk about the biggest story lines in MMA. We get into Urijah Faber's retirement, the making of his biopic, "Notorious Nick," and much much more.

Then, Monica returns for everyone's favorite segment, Outside The Bubble. This was definitely the best OTB yet, topping 40 minutes of hilarious, blissful ignorance when it comes to the world of MMA. Monica gives her predictions for Paige VanZant vs. Michelle Waterson & Sage Northcutt vs. Mickey Gall.

I also get into a little West World talk with the girl who made me late to watch every episode. Plus, I've got a couple awesome movie recommendations for you. Enjoy!!

This week, we welcome a couple of our favorite guests back to the show and reveal our plans for the final few episodes of the year.

Louis Smolka returns to the show to give his take on an array of upcoming fights and MMA headlines. We briefly touched on his upcoming fight with Ray Borg, but were careful not to spoil any game plans.

We called upon our Canadian Correspondent to give us his hometown take on the upcoming UFC 206 in Toronto. Residing just down the street from the stadium, James Lynch helps us break down everything you need to know about 206 and beyond. Fun conversation with an old friend.

In this week's After Show, we get into UFC Albany, some TV Talk, and (of course) the now 11-1 Dallas Cowboys.

This week’s intro music is brought to you by Jermiside & L-Marr The Star who’s EP, entitled “God Bless The Child” drops tomorrow. Pre-Order here!!

Sean O'Connell looks ahead to his next fight against Corey Anderson and discusses his weigh-in hyjinx/why it won't be happening at UFC Albany.

Keri Anne Taylor-Melendez reflects on her successful MMA debut and looks forward to what lies ahead.

We've got a slew of bantamweights for you on this special Thanksgiving episode of the podcast.

First, Raquel Pennington joins us after her recent victory over former champion Miesha Tate. Fresh off the biggest win of her career, Rocky is focused and ready for whatever comes next. A title shot can't be far off.

Next, we're joined by the first Welshman to ever compete inside the Octagon. Brett Johns picked up a dominant win in his UFC debut last weekend and officially put Wales on the map. He's wide eyed and excited for his next appearance.

Then, back by popular demand, Monica returns for another edition of Outside The Bubble. This time, she gives her take on Mighty Mouse and his upcoming title fight. Another fun one from Moni.

Finally, Rob Font returns to discuss his next fight and reflect on his first loss inside the Octagon. Sound quality was a little off but don't let that stop you from listening to a solid interview.

Plus, Nick discusses the biggest storylines in MMA, dives into a little TV talk, a movie recommendation, and of course a Dallas Cowboys recap.

Great guests, fun interviews, the debut of a new segment. This is one of those episodes I've dreamed about. I hope you have as much fun listening as I did making it.

First, one half of the UFC 205 Fight of the Night, Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson discusses his majority draw with the welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley. Dana White stated both publicly and in private that Wonderboy would be getting that instant rematch and we have to take the man at his word. Understandably somber but still in good spirits, I greatly appreciate the time!

Next, Ian McCall returns to the podcast to discuss his upcoming fight with Neil Seery. Unsurprisingly, we get sidetracked by UFC 205 and the developing politics of Donald Trump's America. Fun interview, I think you'll enjoy it!

Plus, the inaugural edition of coast-to-coast, featuring my MMA-loving friend who moved to California. From opposite sides of the country, Kevin and I recap UFC 205, tell the strange tale of accidentally meeting Conor McGregor and more.

Finally, in the After Show, I hit all the important MMA topics that we missed and discuss West World (which was already spoiled for me), UConn's bad start and the Dallas Cowboys climbing to #1 in the power rankings.

Thanks for listening!!

We're just days away from UFC 205 in New York City, and we're opening up this episode the same way their opening up fight card... with Liz Carmouche!! We get into her debut against Ronda Rousey, making MMA history twice, and her upcoming fight with Katlyn Chookagian.

Then, Jose "Shorty" Torres - MMA's top prospect at 125 pounds - stops by the show to discuss his extended career as an amateur and his fighting future in the UFC.

Finally, Sam Micale makes his podcast debut. We go way back, first working together on my old site, Water Cooler MMA. We talked about his increased focus on grappling, the Dallas Cowboys, and President Donald Trump (weird).

Stick around for the After Show where I dive into a brief UFC 205 preview, a recap of Tony Ferguson vs. Rafael dos Anjos, and plenty of headlines from around the world of MMA.

(04:36) Jed Meshew and I got into all the biggest story lines in MMA. We also took some time to dive into his history with writing, the absurdity of Trial By Combat in Game of Thrones, and more.

(51:02) UFC 205's Belal Muhammad rejoined the show to talk about fighting in Madison Square Garden and to reflect on his Octagon experience so far. He's definitely one to keep an eye on at 170. Don't sleep on Belal.

(1:08:55) In this week's After Show, Nick discusses Rousey's "last fights," Jon Jones arbitration, and Tony Ferguson vs. Rafael dos Anjos. Then, Dallas Cowboys, Black Mirror, and a shout out to Danish & O'Neill.

A long one but a good one!! Big thanks to DSM for joining us on his birthday.

Packed with loads of spooky music and incredible stories, David St. Martin helps to make this a memorable Halloween special. We dove deep into his crazy new lifestyle and a handful of his recent adventures. Just remember guys and girls... the key to finding your place in life is simply to partner up with a rich and successful friend.

Plus in a Halloween-themed After Show, I break down the season premier of The Walking Dead and the most recent American Horror Story. I tell a very scary story about a Poop in a Port. And I discuss my plans for October 31st.

Oh, and we got into some MMA as well - Faber's retirement, Cruz vs. No Love, UFC New York, etc.

(3:13) Adam Milstead is gunning for a spot on that December 30th UFC 207 card and he stopped by the MMA Mad Podcast to explain why. Truly one of the best prospects to enter the heavyweight division in some time.

(24:12) Sweetbread makes his long-awaited return to the cage on November 23rd. But first, he makes his long-awaited return to the podcast. We got into everything from MMA in New York and the UFC turmoil to the New England Patriots and the benefits of fighting on Thanksgiving Eve. Fun interview with one of our favorites.

(53:44) In this week's After Show, Nick discusses the departure of GSP and the return of Rousey. He maps out his escape from the Cube Life, explains his cautious optimism with the Dallas Cowboys, and breaks down HBO's newest Sunday Night Drama, Westworld.

This episode was all over the place, but I'm tremendously proud of it. Two somber interviews with some laughs in between for balance. Enjoy!!

(4:43) Matt Bessette sheds some light on the frustrations involved with being on the cusp of a UFC call-up. He's at a crossroads that reaches beyond a simple career decision. This is about his life. Somber interview but an important one. Hopefully the precursor to an Octagon debut.

(27:47) The debut of Outside The Bubble w/Monica!! In this (likely to become a recurring) segment, I spoke with my roommate who knows little to nothing about the world of MMA to get some predictions for the UFC 205 title fights. The predictions were based on intangible factors that can only be seen by someone who truly lies outside the bubble. So place your bets accordingly!!

(40:20) Duane Finley is the Senior Editor for FloCombat. He's also a close friend of the late Josh Samman. I wanted to speak with him about Josh and gain some perspective on the tragedy from someone who knew him so well. This was a powerful one.

(53:33) In this week's After Show, I got into everything from Hilary vs. Trump and TV Talk to the Dallas Cowboys and Greg Hardy's MMA debut.

Best wishes to friend of the show Josh Samman who is currently in a coma and fighting for his life in a Florida hospital. Hoping for a speedy and full recovery. One of the best people I've met in this business.

(5:16) Cortney Casey returns to the show with a huge fight on the horizon. She's set to take on #1 ranked Claudia Gadelha. An unexpected car accident nearly put a halt to things, but she's back at it and fully prepared to bring a show down to Brazil.

(21:13) John "Doomsday" Howard discusses the difference between today's fighters and the lifelong martial artists of previous generations. We also got into a little New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox talk.

(35:24) Jon Tuck is readying himself for a fight in the Philippines, just a three hour flight away from his home country of Guam. The last time he was there, he got a Performance of the Night bonus. He's looking to do the same on October 15th. REMINDER: It's a morning card here in the states.

(46:59) In this week's after show, I discuss my return to The Cube Life and the strong start for the Dallas Cowboys. I shared some memories about the the Red Sox 2004 World Series win and what Big Papi has meant to the city of Boston. I also got into sportsmanship after fights and the strangeness that is Bisping vs. Henderson for the middleweight title. And finally, we wrap things up with a little TV talk about HBO's Westworld.

It's a good time, I hope you can join!!
